EuroBLECH 2006 in Hannover: OTTO DILG GmbH sets standards in brushing technology and handling - Hall 13, Stand G48 -
Dilg systems for economical production and first-class results in sheet metal working Neufahrn, Germany, 6 June 2006. Otto Dilg GmbH, quality supplier of machines for brushing technology and handling in the metal and plastic processing industry, is presenting top technology for cleaning, deburring and further treatment of metal surfaces at EuroBLECH 2006, Hannover, Germany, in Hall 13, Stand G48. Dilg is the only manufacturer offering brush grinders that allow double-sided brush cleaning and degreasing of work pieces in one operation. Even abrasive machining and decoration cuts are possible at the same time. This results in considerable time and cost savings in production. One example of what Dilg will be showing at EuroBLECH is solutions for double-sided deburring with simultaneous exact edge rounding for very fine, filigree metals, particularly those with sensitive surfaces. Dilg machines also achieve outstanding results in this area. Even materials in a very thin range (up to 0.2 mm) and very small parts (from 96 mm) can be machined easily, without risk of damage. Above all, this can be credited to the precision positioning, the extremely precise transport and correspondingly designed drives, in combination with specially developed brush cylinders. Dilg has more than 35 years of experience in sheet metal working, and offers both standard products and production of customized brush grinders.

Ceramics in hybrid circuits
The field for use of hybrid circuits is wide and offers many possibilities. Hybrids are used not only in the car industry and in telecommunications. Due to the permanently rising standards on electronics sensor technologies and industrial electronics are also excellent fields for the use of thick-film hybrid technology.
The integration of metallic conductor paths and electronic components in ceramic basic material produces so-called hybrid circuits.
Some physical and chemical properties of technical ceramics are the reason for the wide range of possible application within modern hybrid technology. Ceramics are however remarkably hard and refractory. Therefore, its fragility is a problem if the material is being handled by a technical asset.
The size of the ceramic substrates is 4x4" as a rule. Drill-holes and carvings are applied to them by laser so that the tiles can be divided at these predetermined breaking points. Unfortunately, this process sometimes causes indefinable and sharp-edged burrs and edges, which make the handling of the substrates along flat rods and guide rails difficult.
OTTO DILG GmbH FEINMECHANIK has extensive experience in the area of ceramic and hybrid technology and production. Numerous satisfied customers have already been equipped with machine and equipment from OTTO DILG.
The company has become an established partner for special tasks.
The transport system of the machines will be equipped thoroughly with gummed rolls if ceramic based workpieces are used. The highly strained stainless steel counter pressure roll in the brushing area is protected by a ceramic cover and promises properties almost without mechanical wear.
Substrates with a length of 45mm have already been mechanically guided and machined absolutely troublefree! Modules for workpiece loading and unloading are available according to customers demand. This area of application clearly shows that handling and brushing of ceramic substrates and similar special solutions requires a high degree of know how. In any case, the cooperation with the customer is very important in order to create applications and innovations which may lead to further production-related development of the systems.

Productronica 2001
The preconditions for a successful company presentation had been much better in the past than in November 2001 at the Productronica in Munich! Shortly after the millennium change the world-wide economy decreased. Countries like Germany - whose economy is depending on export - have to bear a great deal in this situation. The terrorist attacks in New York and Washington on September 11, 2001 have been a human and economic tragedy. Furthermore the following conflict in Afghanistan and its uncertain outcome were the reason for a slowdown in the economy.
Here at OttoDilg GmbH, the preparation time for the fair has been characterised by this bad omen. We have invested a lot of time and energy in the preparations for the fair, but November 7, 2001 has been expected with mixed feelings.
Indeed, at the beginning of the fair the attendance figures were rather low! Other than in former years no dearth of parking space on the exhibition grounds! No crush in the exhibition halls and no hectic pace for the visitors and for the exhibitors. Corresponding to the number of visitors the rush on the exhibition stands was poor.
But the situation was completely different from the second day on! The Productronica became a meeting place with technical background.
Other than at former exhibitions many curious onlookers failed to appear: this fair turned out to be the right place to come into contact with an interested and mainly technical competent public.
The Dilg exhibition stand attracted many, many visitors! The stand had been completely re-designed, with an aesthetic combination of blue and silver colours and a high towering banner as an eye-catcher for everyone. This and our tastefully dressed, friendly staff have been received with enthusiasm. This setting, as described above, has been the perfect background for the real star of the week at the Dilg stand: the "Ottomat"! It was the focal point of attention at our stand, under the glistening spotlight. Brushing machine it's original profession - but now with it's little helper "UF-2" a useful additional filtering unit.
These showpieces of the house of Dilg represented of course only a small part of our wide range of products. After all nearly every machine we produce is unique, is made to order. Actually at our company standard products become exceptional more and more.
At our stand at the fair the flow of interested visitors didn't break off. Inquiries concerning the Dilg machines came from all over the world. All day exchanges of experience with well-known, satisfied customers and challenging requests from prospective buyers alternated with each other.
Following the Productronica 2001 our résumé can only be: All's well that ends well!
